Expedia books 100 new jobs in Springfield

Online travel site Expedia Inc. will add 100 new jobs at their Springfield support location. The new hires will push the company’s total workforce in Springfield to more than 850 people, according to a press release from the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

The new positions will include Global Financial Operations support services roles, supporting Expedia’s online travel brands, which also includes Hotels.com. The company will host a job fair from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 30 at Hilton Garden Inn, 4155 South Nature Center Way. Expedia representatives will be on hand to meet with and provide further information to those interested in employment with the firm.

“Springfield offers an impressive caliber of talent, and we very much look forward to growing our team here,” said Frank Zijlstra, vice president of Global Financial Operations, Expedia Inc. “We are an innovative company full of really passionate people, doing exciting things in technology and travel. What’s not to love about that?”

The bulk of Expedia Inc.’s Springfield workforce is based in offices at the former terminal building at Springfield-Branson National Airport, which opened in 2010. Since, the company has expanded its lease by approximately 10,000 square feet, with an additional 10,000 square feet of office space currently under construction.

Expedia’s latest expansion will be aided by the Missouri Department of Economic Development. The company will utilize the Missouri Quality Jobs program, which provides saleable/refundable tax credits to companies creating jobs that pay above the average county wage.
