Royals World Series win also a home run for Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals first victory in Major League Baseball’s World Series in 30 years wasn’t just a win for the team or its fans. Local officials say the exposure the city received during the playoffs and World Series will be a hit for the city long after the victory parade is over.
A representative from VisitKC said the monetary value of the positive exposure Kansas City received during the playoffs, World Series and victory celebration was incalculable and will certainly help bring more visitors, conventions and business to the city. In addition, Kansas City’s arts and food scene and easy commutes are attracting workers from across the nation. A local employment agency estimated a 25 percent jump in job hunters seeking to move to Kansas City since the World Series, with about 20 percent of those people coming from the east or west coasts.
