Missouri unemployment hits eight-year low
MISSOURI — According to new data from the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Missouri unemployment fell to 5.0 percent in October. That number is a .3 percent drop from September and the lowest rate in the Show-Me State since April 2007.
Among the industries that experienced increases in employment in October were health care and social assistance with 5,500 new jobs, construction with 2,800 new jobs, and professional and business services with 3,700 new jobs. Missouri’s nonfarm payroll employment also increased by 1,400 jobs over the month. In addition, September employment estimates were revised up by 5,000.
