L.L. Bean hikes into Kansas City with new jobs
LEAWOOD, Kan. — Outdoor equipment, footwear and apparel retailer L.L. Bean has opened its new Kansas City-area store in Leawood, Kansas. The store, which is the Freeport, Maine-based company’s 26th brick-and-mortar location, is creating about 100 jobs.
The new location, at Town Center Crossing, is part of L.L. Bean’s plans to eventually grow to 100 retail locations nationwide by 2020, which was announced in March. Though the majority of firm’s business comes through catalog and online sales, L.L. Bean officials note the new stores are designed to complement its existing sale channels by giving consumers an opportunity to shop and try on merchandise in the store before purchasing it in person or ordering online.
